British Citizenship

Naturalisation

Naturalisation is the process through which a person can obtain British Citizenship given that he/she meets a certain criteria. Applicants present in the UK under different immigration categories can apply for naturalisation after they receive Indefinite Leave to Remain in the UK (ILR). However, such applicants would need to prove that they have been residing and have settled in the UK for a minimum period of 5 years and that they were granted Indefinite Leave to Remain at least 1 year prior to the application for naturalisation.

The applicants are required to fulfill the conditions and requirements before applying for naturalisation. The applicants above the age of 18 years must pass the Life in the UK test. The applicants should not have any past criminal record and should have an intention to make UK their main home.
